Pollution and price: The cost of investing in gas

Short Summary of Resource
This report investigates the role of gas as Australia transitions its electricity sector to net zero emissions before 2050
Detailed description of the resource
This report looks at how gas-fuelled electricity generation measures up against the principal policy criteria for Australia’s electricity system: affordability, reliabilityand emissions reduction. This report considers other relevant factors where necessary, such as Australia’s Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) export market and methane emissions associated with unconventional gas production and finds that limiting global temperature rise means moving away from gas as well as coal for power generation. The report shows that a secure, dependable, cost effective power system can be achieved without gas
